“Incredible trek to Himalayan High Valleys and exploration of tranquil highland hamlets and sacred monasteries”
This is an outstanding trek, which passes the high valleys of the Khumbu. Flying from Kathmandu to Lukla we follow the Dudh Kosi valley up to the Sherpa capital of Namche then follow the quiet trail to Thame village in the Bhote Koshi valley. Descending to Khumjung, we are treated to incredible views of Kantega and Thamserku and the Nuptse-Lhotse wall with Everest so realistic above. At Khumjung we camp below Khumbila Peak, home of the patron God of the Khumbu, before continuing up the Dudh Koshi valley to Gokyo’s alpine lakes and an ascent of Gokyo Ri. A 3600 panorama of snow-capped peaks is incredible view from the point.
From Gokyo, we take lower route along the valley and rejoin the main trail to Everest Base Camp via Phortse. Our route provides a magnificent approach to the Khumbu glacier with unbelievable vistas of the surrounding peaks and glaciers. We follow the Khumbu glacier, first to Lobuche and then to Gorak Shep. Our camp here gives us the opportunity to ascend Kala Pattar for even more fantastic views of the surrounding mountains. We also have a day to visit Everest Base Camp, at the foot of the Khumbu Icefall.
This trip can be done during March to May (spring) and September to December (autumn).
