Overview
Kanchenjunga mountain is loacted in the eastern part of Nepal, which is the 3rd highest mountain in the world. Kanchenjunga is derived from the Tibetan word “Kanchen” + “Dzonga” meaning ‘The five Treasure of the great snow’ . 3 of the main mountain : Kanchenjunga main , Kanchenjunga Central & Kanchenjunga South lies on the border between Nepal and North Sikkim of India, and remaining Kanchenjunga west (which is also known as Yalung Kang) and kangbechen lies in the Taplejung District of Nepal.
Highlights
- First climbed on May 25, 1955 by Joe Brown and George Band
- Lies in Kanchenjunga Conservation Area, which is home of Red panda, and other rare plants , birds and animals.
- Settlement of the people and the very rare endemic flora with different varieties of rhododendrons and orchids.
- Climb begins with ice ridge, mixed rock and ice climb
- The hike is entirely on snow, glacier, icefall, and rock towards the summit
